The Department of Trauma and Burn Surgery has a strong affiliation with readiness training for the Armed Forces, specifically the U.S. Navy. Navy Corpsmen, nurses, and trauma surgeons make regular rotations in the high volume penetrating-injury environment to provide them with expertise in taking care of our soldiers on the battle field. This training encompasses basic resuscitation of the patient in hemorrhagic shock to major hemorrhage control to treatment of the sequelae of major trauma in the ICU. We also train the U.S. Army Special Forces for their needs on the battlefield.
